Even as host of the firms across the countries have begun probe into how much of the data breach by the Cambridge Analytica from Facebook affected them and their people, it has now emerged that the Congress party from India may have hired the company’s services.
This could put the Congress party in trouble even as the party is attacking the Prime Minister and his NaMo app for leaking user data to third parties in other countries.
A whistleblower at the heart of the Facebook data breach scandal made the revelation in his testimony before UK lawmakers.
Named as Christopher Wylie, he is a former Cambridge Analytica employee.
The whistleblower said that in terms of numbers of users, India is amongst the top and thus there is quite an opportunity for political discord and opportunities for destabilisation.
However, the Congress has dismissed the attempt to link it to the political consulting firm and the party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala dared the party to file an FIR in the case. >
