Raipur: Unidentified thieves broke into a locked house in Gondwara in broad daylight on Wednesday and decamped with cash and ornaments worth Rs 1.25 lakh. Khamtarai police is now investigating the matter further. According to police, complainant Prakash Kumar Mahilange of Gondwara had been to market with his wife on Wednesday between 10:00-11:30 am.
His children were away to their school at that time. Returning from the market, Mahilange was stunned to find the main door’s lock broken and missing. Further entering into the house, he and his wife found everything inside was completely ransacked and the almirah too was open from where the thieves had taken away cash Rs 51000 and all the gold ornaments kept in it, all totaling to about Rs 1.25 lakh.
The burglary was soon reported in Khamtarai police station following which police registered an offence under Section 454, 380 IPC against unidentified burglars and is now investigating the matter further. In another burglary reported in DD Nagar police station, unidentified burglars broke into a shop situated at Raipura Chowk and cigarettes, gutkha packets and cash Rs 500, all totaling to Rs 30000.
Shop owner Shyam Kumar Paswani came to know about the burglary when he opened the shop on Thursday morning and found that a roof sheet had been removed and the cash counter was broken open. He soon lodged a complaint in DD Nagar police station following which police have registered an offence under Section 457, 380 IPC against unidentified burglars and is now investigating
