Central team visits Kerala after two suspected cases of Nipah virus

With the suspected Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala, at least two people have died on Tuesday morning in Kozhikode Medical College hospital.

Sources informed that the two were being treated in the isolation ward of Kozhikode Medical College.

The departed have been identified as Rajan and Ashokan, both hailing from Kozhikode district of Kerala.

It has been said that the body fluid samples of 48 people (including these two) from various hospitals have been sent to National Institute of Virology in Pune for testing.

More will be known about the viral infection in the test results.

A central medical team has also arrived at Kozhikode airport.

The team will meet the State Health Minister K K Shailaja at Kozhikode government guest house.

The team is expected to conduct a field visit to the hospitals and affected areas of Perambra village.
