Chief Electoral Officer Shri V.L. Kanta Rao has instructed different Enforcement departments to take prohibitory action following the implementation of Code of Conduct and give regular information about it to the CEO office. CEO was addressing a meeting of Nodal Officers for Election expenditure monitoring.
Shri Rao instructed the Police Department to increase the number of flying squads and static surveillance teams. Checking campaigns should be conducted in the border districts. Instructions should be given to the police force to behave respectfully towards women and general public during checking.
The Income Tax Department has been directed that Investigation Units should work constantly at all the airports of the state and send report of every action. The Excise Department has been directed to take strict action in all the districts to stop transpotation, distribution and sale of illegal liquor and intoxicants. Railways have been instructed to check all luggage by installing scanner at all major railway stations.
CEO Shri Rao directed the Chief Manager of Central Bank to monitor suspicious transactions in banks and give its information to the District Returning Officer and Income Tax Department. Instructions were given to the Transport Department to take action along with the police on vehicles with illegal bumpers, hooters and name plates.
The meeting was attended by Joint Chief Electoral Officer Shri Rajesh Kaul and nodal officers of Police, Narcotics, Income Tax, Railway, Bank, Excise, Airport Authority, CISF, Transport, Doordarshan and AIR.
