Yet another reason for the farmers of Chhattisgarh to rejoice as CM Bhupesh Baghel announced waiver of Rs outstanding irrigation taxes.
The move is likely to benefit 15 lakh farmers in the state.
The total outstanding irrigation taxes could be to the tune of Rs 207 crore.
The announcement was made during CM Bhupesh Baghel’s Republic Day address at the Police Parade grounds here in Raipur.
This comes ahead of the crucial parliamentary election.
The Congress government in Chhattisgarh has decided to waive farmers’ short-term agricultural loans worth Rs 6,230 crore and also hike the MSP for paddy to Rs 2,500.
To improve the economic condition of farmers a permanent solution has to be chalked out and a scheme that will yield long-term results should be introduced, he added.
