The State Government sanctioned 14 new subjects at the graduation level in 35 Government Colleges.
The courses will start in the current academic year 2018-2019. Six colleges are located in the tribals’ dominated regions and three colleges in the Scheduled Castes’ areas.
About one thousand 935 additional seats also had been sanctioned for the new subjects.
Higher Education Minister Mr. Premprakash Pande today said that efforts are being made under the dynamic leadership of Chief minister Dr. Raman Singh to introduce as many subjects as feasible to enable the students of Chhattisgarh to learn the subjects of their choice.
As a part of this long-term programme the State Government had introduced 14 new subjects and an additional 1935 seats in 35 Government colleges.
The orders to this effect had been issued by the Director of Higher Education Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhawan). The students will be admitted till 31st August.
Sixty-nine Assistant Professors posts and 26 lab technicians posts and 26 lab assistants posts had been sanctioned for the additional subjects in 35 colleges.
The new subjects introduced are-Geography, English Literature, Sanskrit Literature, Commerce, Fine Art and Sculpture, History, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Psychology, Microbiology, Computer Science and Computer Application.
The Higher Education Department officials said that the colleges are located in Raipur, Gariyaband, Rajim , Durg , Kursipar, Salhewara, Kondagaon, Jagdalpur, Sukma, Kanker, Bilaspur, Seepat, Takatpur, Kotri, Akaltara, Deepka, Sarangarh, Dharamjaigarh, Baramkela, Pusour, Baikuntpur, Chirmiri, Pandaria, Manendragarh, Dondilohara, Maanpur, Tokapaal, Sarona, Bhopalpatnam, Maarwahi, Lawan, Malakhroudha and Hasoud .>
