Cgarh govt contemplating petition in Supreme Court; on the issue of SC/ST act

especially so because the Chhattisgarh is already a state dominated by scheduled castes and scheduled tribes

With rising controversy over whether the SC/ST act has been diluted with the recent Superme Court order, the Chhattisgarh government has for now suspended the implementation of the order.

It need be mentioned that Police Head Quarters had issued a directive to the Superintendents of Police that the Supreme Court order on the SC/ST act be implemented.

But the Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh is now of the opinion a that it would be better if the state files a review petition with the top court on this issue.

This is especially so because the Chhattisgarh is already a state dominated by scheduled castes and scheduled tribes population.

It is said that the government is of the view that in this context, the PHQ order needs to be held up till the state government files a petition in the Supreme Court.
