Champions League: Cristiano Ronaldo will Serve only Mandatory One Game Ban

Ronaldo to Serve Only One Match Ban for Champions League Red Card

Cristiano Ronaldo, will serve only a mandatory one-game ban for his first-ever red card in the Champions League.

The UEFA disciplinary panel’s decision not to add a further sanction clears Ronaldo to face former club Manchester United when Juventus visits Old Trafford on Oct. 23.

Ronaldo will miss only Juventus’ home game against Young Boys on Oct. 2.

Ronaldo was sent off in the 29th minute, after receiving his first red card in 154 Champions League appearances for a tug on Jeison Murillo’s hair as Valencia’s defender lay on the ground following a collision, reports Efe.

Juventus won the match 2-0 win last week.

It was the first time he was sent off in 15 years of playing in the Champions League.

Valencia holds the second spot in Group H with three points, behind England’s Manchester United on goal difference, and is set to host Switzerland’s last-placed Young Boys at Allianz Stadium in the upcoming UCL match on October 2.
