Keen to establish himself as the biggest leader of the Andhra Pradesh amid rival parties too occupying centrestage, the Andhra Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party leader Chandrababu Naidu took to riding a bicycle.
He led a cycle rally in the state capital region of Amaravati today.
Naidu was also joined by TDP lawmakers and party supporters in the six-kilometre-long yatra that was primarily aimed at intensifying their protest against the denial of special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
This cycle rally comes amid the five parliamentarians of YSR Congress resigning from the Lok Sabha today to protest on the same issue.
The five MPs submitted their resignation letters to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on the last day of the Budget session.
In Chandrababu Naidu’s rally, children holding TDP flags ran along Naidu’s cycle as he kick-started the rally from Venkatapalem village right up to State Secretariat.
They demanded that all the promises made by the NDA when the state of Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh in 2014 be fulfilled by the central government.>
