Chhattisgarh braces for state election, through EVM clubbed VVPAT

In a presser organized to brief the media as to how the preparations are proceeding, CEO Subrat Sahoo said that voter's list will be prepared by July 31 and claims/objections will be invited by 31 August

With state election in Chhattisgarh to be held by the year end, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer told the media persons that final publication of voters’ list will be on September 27.

In a presser organized to brief the media as to how the preparations are proceeding, CEO Subrat Sahoo said that voter’s list will be prepared by July 31 and claims/objections will be invited by 31 August.

CEO Sahoo also said that number of total voters in state has been put at 1 crore 81 lakh 52 thousand 143 out of which the male voters are 91 lakh 16 thousand.

Sahoo went on to add that political parties appointing booth level agents will be governed by a different set of rules.

Amid the ongoing controversy over the EVM and its dependebility, it was informed that EVMs this time would also come attached with VVPAt to enable voters to ascertain as to who has received their vote.

The office of Chief Electoral Officer also has written to the state government to ensure transfer of officers who have been posted in a single station for more than three years.
