Alleging that one of its state television journalist was removed from an event, the London’s Chinese embassy has now demanded an apology.
It is learnt from various media outlets that the journalist was participating in a rather fringe event about Hong Kong at the ruling Conservative party’s conference.
But she is also reported to have heckled one of the organisers.
A video uploaded on YouTube showed the China Central Television (CCTV) reporter heckling at the event and then apparently slapping one of the organisers.
The woman, well into her forties, was held in custody overnight after being arrested on suspicion of common assault.
She was later released.
The journalist accused the organizer of being anti-China.
However, the Chinese embassy posted on its website in English saying her ejection was completely unacceptable.>
