The urban public transport system should be strengthened. City buses should be good and safe. Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Jaivardhan Singh gave this directive during a review of departmental schemes at the Mantralaya.
He said that priority should be given to the purchase of electric buses. Shri Singh said that agencies that do not complete work on time should be black-listed.
Take measures to increase revenue
The Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Singh told to take measures to increase revenue in urban bodies. He told to complete water supply and sewerage system under construction in Amrit Yojana on time.
He also instructed to ensure timely completion of the work of houses under construction in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. he told to make consistent efforts to fulfil the target to construct 11 lakh houses by year 2022 under Housing for all scheme.
7 star status to Indore-Ujjain
It was informed during the review meeting that all urban bodies of the state have been declared as ODF. In this area, Indore and Ujjain have got 7-star status. As many as 17 cities of the state have been declared ODF+ and 4 bodies have been declared ODF ++. These cities are Indore, Ujjain, Khargone and Shahganj.
It is noteworthy that 7 cities in the country have been declared ODF ++. These include 4 of Madhya Pradesh and 3 of Chhattisgarh. This survey has been conducted by the Quality Council of India. The remaining cities are also being surveyed.
Shri Singh also directed to complete the points of the manifesto and the master plans of the cities on priority basis. He said that the planning of development of cities should be well-planned.
Chief Secretary Shri Pramod Agarwal apprised with the updated status of departmental schemes. Meanwhile, Urban Development and Housing Commissioner Shri Gulshan Bamra and other officials including Additional Commissioner Shri Swatantra Singh were present.
