Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra expressed concern on the rising menace was of human trafficking and said that the people involved in it considered human beings as ‘commodity’.
CJI Misra made this statement while addressing an ‘International Conference on Human Trafficking’.
He said that human trafficking is perhaps the greatest human tragedy and appealed the younger generation must rise against the menace.
He also equated it to the menace of slavery that existed in yesteryears.
The convention was also addressed by Nepal Supreme Court judge Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla, who pointed out that technology has created market for human trafficking and made the victims more vulnerable.>
