CM announces magisterial probe into caning of Congress workers and leaders by police

Criticises throwing filth inside the premises of minister Amar Agrawal too

The police caning of Congress workers and leaders inside Congress Bhavan in Bilaspur on Tuesday has not pleased the Chief Minister. CM Dr. Raman Singh has announced a magisterial probe into the incident. However, he criticised the littering of the private premises of senior cabinet minister Amar Agrawal too. Dr. Singh announced it here after reaching Characha in the district with the ongoing Vikas Yatra of BJP.

While announcing a ministerial probe into the incident, Raman said that whosoever is found guilty in the probe, will be prosecuted according to rules. He claimed that throwwing dirt and filth inside someone’s private property was not in good taste.

That said, he also derided the conduct of police personnel who went on an overdrive inside Congress Bhavan in Bilaspur, which has been markd as a hitherto unforeseen incident in the entire state.

Dr. Raman Singh criticised both the incidents in one sentence, indicating that both were inter related and a probe would be carried out only to entwin them. However, he tried to allay such fears by stressing that Chhattisgarh was a peaceful state and every political party functions with due respect of people.

However, the political fallout of this incident will soon be evedent when Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhupesh Baghel returns from his Delhi jaunt. He rushed to Delhi immediately after the police caning of Congress workers and leaders to consult party high command on the path to be charted by Congress in the state.
