Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh presided over a review meeting of the Urban Administration Department at his official residence.
The officials presented a detailed analysis of the State and Union Government schemes for the development of cities and towns.
Urban Administration Minister Mr. Amar Agrawal, Chief Secretary Mr. Ajay Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Aman Kumar Singh, Urban Administration Department Secretary Dr. Rohit Yadav and other senior officials attended the meeting.
The officers informed the meeting yesterday that Union Government had sanctioned proposals worth Rs 2193 crore under the ‘ ‘Amrut Mission’ for the duration of 2015-2016 to 2019-2020 years.
The schemes covered 9 cities- Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Bhilai, Rajnandgaon, Ambikapur, Jagdalpur, Raigarh and Korba.
The target is to complete all the developmental works by March 2020. Most of the sanctioned amount (78 per cent) is being spent on water distribution project, 20 per cent on sewerage management.
Around 176 schemes had been sanctioned for the towns and cities. All the developmental works will be completed by 2020.
The drinking water works are in various stages of development. About 3.17 lakh private toilets had been constructed against a target of 3.25 lakh toilets in 168 urban bodies under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Chhattisgarh bagged the Third Best ‘Swachhtam’ award in January-February 2018. Under the Innovative Practices category Ambikapur bagged the top spot.
The meeting was informed that 1.65 lakh houses had been built against a target of 3 lakh houses under the Prime Minister Housing Project.
About 46 thousand houses are under various stages of construction. The highway road towards the airport is being laid at brisk pace.
The hi-tech bus stand at Rajnandgaon will be completed by September-end. Director of Urban Administration Department Mr. Niranjan Das and senior officers of various departments were also present during the review meeting.>
