Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today expressed his deep condolences on the death of former State Finance Minister Dr Ramchandra Singhdeo.
Dr Raman Singh reached the residence of legendary leader Dr. Singhdeo in the capital and paid floral tributes.
He met family members of the departed leader and expressed his sympathies.
It may be mentioned here that Dr. Singhdeo breathed his last in the wee hours of today morning (01:30 AM) at a private nursing home here.
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said that entire life of the former Finance Minister had been inspiring for its simplicity and austerity.
In a condolence message released Dr. Raman Singh mentioned that Dr Ramchandra Singhdeo served the nation and the society for five long decades.
The vacuum left by his death will never be fulfilled. His mission was to serve the masses.
Dr Raman Singh mentioned that the former Finance Minister’s services will be remembered by the citizens of the State for several years to come.
He has served in various capacities in the then undivided Madhya Pradesh and he has the distinction of being the first Finance Minister of the newly-created State of Chhattisgarh in the year 2000.
He hailed from district Koriya and is related to the ‘Raj’ family’ (erstwhile ruling dynasty). He spent his entire life as ‘Fakir’ not as a King. He had been popular both in the ruling party and the Opposition.
Dr Raman Singh said that his ideals should be followed both in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
He was an expert on water resources and environment issues. He was instrumental in building several irrigation projects in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Recalling his association with the Dr. Singhdeo, Chief Minister said that his blessings and advice always guided him.
He used to be in touch with him regarding the various developmental works of newly-formed Chhattisgarh. At times he used to write letters and mention suggestions. In his demise the State lost an experience and enlightened person forever.
Dr Raman Singh prayed for peace to the departed soul.>
