Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Dr Raman Singh has extended hearty wishes and greetings of ‘Nuakhai’ to Utkal community and all the people of the state.
Nuakhai is a major festival of neighbouring state Odisha. In his message to public issued on the eve of Nuakhai, Dr Singh said that since ancient times in our agriculture dominant Indian culture, Goddess Annapurna is workshipped on harvest of new crop.
He said- this festival is celebrated by different names in different parts of the country. In this kharif season, ‘Nuakhai’ is celebrated with zeal and fervour in Odisha, especially in the part of Odisha adjacent to Chhattisgarh border, and Goddess Annapurna and Goddess Lakshmi are worshipped.
Chief Minister said- in Chhattisgarh, we celebrate this programme by the name of ‘Navakhai’and in Odisha, it is celebrated as ‘Nuakhai’.
It is a major festival of farmers and a customary ritual of all the sections of society to express gratitude towards mother nature. On the occasion, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh has prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of Utkal community and all the people of the state.>
