Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today gave out Shilpguru awards to mastercraftsmen in a program held in capital Raipur.
The program was presided over by Union Minister Smriti Zubin Irani.
The program has been organized jointly by state village industries department as well as Union Textile Ministry.
The state level minister who was present in the program included Punnulal Mohale and Raipur Member of Parliament Ramesh Bais.
It is said that this is the first time that Raipur has chosen as location for giving away of the national awards to the mastercraftsmen.
The Union Textile Ministry made the decision on the request of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh.
The Shilpguru awards were given out to eight craftsmen while 25 were given national awards
While Shilpguru awards carry Rs 2 lakh cash and gold coin, the national awards bestow Rs one lakh in cash along with a shawl and certificate.>
