Raipur: With campaigning for forthcoming municipal elections in the state reaching its peak, sensation got created in state’s political circle after a complaint was lodged with the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) against former Chief Minister Raman Singh and his son, former Lok Sabha MP, Abhishek Singh and other family members alleging that they have amassed huge assets disproportionate to their known source of income.
The complaint has been filed by Rajnandgaon District Congress Committee (DCC) President Nawaz Khan who has since demanded registering of FIR against all accused under Sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
The complainant has also submitted large number of documents in support of his allegations along with the election affidavits filed by Raman Singh while contesting elections from 2008 to 2018 wherein he has mentioned the details of moveable and immovable assets owned by him. The submitted election affidavits show a quantum increase in his assets which is simply disproportionate to his known source of income, said the complainant.
Khan further stated that while filing his election affidavit in 2008, Raman Singh has stated his wife to be his dependent but there was no such mention about his son and daughter. However, when his son Abhishek Singh filed his nomination for the 2013 Lok Sabha elections and submitted his election affidavit, he had stated himself as a dependent of his father, the then Chief Minister Raman Singh.
