Cong forced state govt to concede to farmers’ demands for bonus, says Baghel

Speaking at the special session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly, state Congress President Bhupesh Baghel asserted that it was Congress that forced state government to concede the demand for bonus of farmers. He said that earlier as well, it was his party that struggled for farmers forcing the government to change its stand and procure 15 quintals of paddy per farmer rather than previously announced 10 quintals of paddy.

He also took the opportunity to question why the decision of bonus of farmers was announced from BJP headquarters rather than assembly or even secretariat. He took potshots at the government by questioning if the consent of state agriculture minister was sought before the announcement for paddy bonus was made and also why the government order was issued without the cabinet approval. Baghel said that BJP needs to fulfill its election promise of Rs 2100 minimum support price and Rs 300 bonus for all five years.
