Even as the Supreme Court has now directed for the Karnataka floor test to be carried out by Saturday, the Congress and JDS party leaders are not taking chances with their MLAs.
As per reports received, more than a hundred newly elected Karnataka legislators from the two parties have reached Hyderabad this morning.
It need be mentioned that the BJP has 104 lawmakers and the support of one independent MLA, but still is seven short of the majority mark of 112.
The two parties have also been contesting the Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala’s invitation this week to BS Yeddyurappa to become chief minister.
They allege that this is just chance for the sworn in party to use money and clout to provoke defections.
The move was challenged by the Congress in the Supreme Court.
The Congress-Janata Dal Secular (JDS) combine, which has 116 legislators, had called Karnataka governor’s invite “an encounter of the constitution”.>
