Congress chief yet again attacks Defence Minister over Rafale

Of late, the Congress has been mounting pressure on the Modi government over the Rafale deal

The Rafale dogfight continues in the Indian polity as Congress president Rahul Gandhi said that Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman must resign over the irregularities in the Rafale deal.

He went on to refer to her as Rafale Minister (RM) and said that she has been tasked with defending corruption.

Incidentally, the term RM is mostlly used to refer to the Defence Minister as Raksha Mantri.

Rahul’s fresh salvo came about when media report put out a story where in former HAL chief was quoted as saying that the Rafale fighter plane could have been manufactured in India and HAL had the capability to do it.

Of late, the Congress has been mounting pressure on the Modi government over the Rafale deal.

Rahul and other political parties too have supported the idea of a Joint Parliamentary Committee on the issue.

On Wednesday, senior Congress submitted an eight-page memorandum to the Comptroller and Auditor General Rajiv Mehrishi to undertake an independent audit of the deal and fix accountability.
