Congress leader Kharge now made this demand, in context of CBI dispute

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has now demanded that report of the Central Vigilance Commission be put out in public domain.

The issue pertains to the CBI versus CBI case where two top erstwhile officers clashed with each other.

In his letter, Kharge demanded that the PMO also release the report of Justice (retd) AK Patnaik’s report and minutes of the January 10 Selection Committee meeting during which it was decided to remove CBI director Alok Verma from the job.

The Congress leader further stated that the Prime Minister should call a fresh meeting of the Selection Committee immediately to select the new director of the CBI.

It need be mentioned that the Select Committee comprising PM Modi, Kharge and Justice AK Sikri (who was representing Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi) decided that Alok Kumar Verma from the post of CBI director.

The central government had divested the two of all powers and appointed additional director M Nageshwar Rao as interim chief. The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, removed Rao from the post.
