Coronavirus: Death Toll Rises to 723 in China, 2 Foreigners Dead

With many people in China unable go outside owing to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus epidemic, “home marathons” have become a new option for many Chinese runners in this period.

An American woman and a Japanese man became the first foreigners to have died from the new coronavirus in China as the death toll jumped to 723 in the country with the confirmed cases soaring to 34,598, health officials said on Saturday, 8 February.

The World Health Organisation chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Friday, 7 February, said that the world was running out of masks and other protective equipment against coronavirus.

The United States has offered up to USD 100 million to China and other impacted countries to combat the fast-spreading coronavirus, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Friday, 7 February.
