Crime Branch official suspended after on complaint of Chhattisgarh women scribes
Raipur Superintendent of Police Dr Sanjeev Shukla has suspended a Crime Branch official Gaurav Tiwari after it was alleged that police behaviour in court premises was objectionable as the media persons tried to interact with arrested scribe Vinod Verma.
It need be mentioned that Vinod Verma had been arrested in the high profile case of possession of a ‘sex tape’ which allegedly also features a Minister of Chhattisgarh government.
While the government has written for a CBI probe into the matter, the local police was producing the scribe in the court when this incident happened.
Two of the women scribes had alleged that they were treated unfairly and one of them was even molested as they tried to talk to Vinod Verma as he was being taken by the police in the court premises.
This led to furore amongst the journalists of capital Raipur who then marched to the Civil Lines police station and staged a sit-in untill the police conceded to their demand and suspended Crime Branch TI Gaurav Tiwari.
Raipur SP Dr Shukla has also written to the Raipur Collector to institute a Magisterial probe in the episode.>
