Chief Secretary Mr. Ajay Singh today instructed the Department officials to launch special campaigns in schools to spread awareness against increasing road accidents.
The students and common citizens should follow traffic rules strictly. The senior official stressed upon the need to identify the accidents’ spots on National Highways, State Highways and other interior roads and take concrete steps to reduce accidents.
He was reviewing the High Court constituted Road Safety Samiti meeting at Mantralaya. Mr. Ajay urged the meeting to strictly implement the High Court guidelines regarding the road safety rules, suggestions and programmes implemented.
Chief Secretary Mr. Ajay Singh called upon the senior officials to constitute district-level plans also implement them without fail.
The meeting held detailed deliberations on steps to be taken on lessening road accidents, road safety measures, innumerable deaths in accidents, controlling speed of heavy vehicles, creating awareness regarding road safety rules and traffic regulations.
The concerned senior officials were instructed to install warning boards regarding speed limits, increasing traffic police at various places.
Road Transport Department officials gave a detailed presentation on the steps taken on reducing road accidents. Top police officials, Transport Department Principal Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, School Education Department Secretary Mr. Gaurav Dwivedi, Health Department officials, Public Works Department, Urban Administration officials were also present.>
