Curfew imposed in Kasganj; after unrest following yesterdays Tiranga rally
The ‘Tiranga Bike rally’ carried out on Republic Day in Kasganj ran into stone pelting after which an unrest of sorts broke out between two communities.
It need be mentioned that situation got out of hand so much that curfew had to be imposed in the Kasganj district of Uttar Pradesh as well as in neighbouring Agra.
A youth also lost his life in the clashes that broke out between two communities on Friday.
As per reports, the incident took place in Bilgram when members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Vishva Hindu Parishad took out a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ on the Mathura – Bareli highway.
The clash began after someone threw a stone at the procession after which the stone pelting began on both sides.
Some of the reports went to the extent of claiming that even gun shots were fired during the clashes but it could not be confirmed. It was informed that almost six to seven people got injured in the clashes.
It was also informed that by the time the police rushed in, more than a dozen vehicles had already been torched with damages done to public property as well.
Battalions of PAC and RAF have been pressed into service and the district has been divided into sectors for effective patrolling and the situation now is said to be under control, police said.
