The cyclone Titli finally struck coast in southern Odisha early this morning.
It led to uprooting of the trees and electric poles.
So far the administration in Andhra has confirmed that two people have died due to landfall of the cyclone.
Christened ‘Titli’, the cyclone intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal also brought with heavy rain and strong winds.
The administrations in two states have already took pains to evacuate lakhs of people to safety as a precautionary measure.
It is said that cyclone ‘Titli’ made a landfall in the beach town of Gopalpur in Odisha between 4:30 and 5:30 this morning.
Eight districts in Odisha including Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore are affected by ‘Titli’.
The Odisha state government evacuated more than three lakh people from five coastal districts yesterday while local schools, colleges and childcare centres were ordered closed.
The very severe cyclonic storm” is being monitored by the coastal Doppler Weather Radars at Visakhapatnam, Gopalpur and Paradip.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took stock of the situation yesterday and asked the collectors of five coastal districts to move people to safety.>
