Deepika Padukone as the ‘Best Actress in the first half of 2018’, clearly citing how they are still not over her spectacular act as Rani Padmavati, in Padmaavat.
Deepika breathed life into the queen who is a very important part of the Indian folklore. Her undying dedication for her king was enough to move even the most stoic of all, to tears.
Truly a winner, we say! This also explains why Sanjay Leela Bhansali wasn’t wrong in paying her more than both Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor for the film.
After all, he too realised that it was a tale of the queen and hence the one who plays it, must get her due and there… look how royally Deepika is living up to his beliefs even 6 months after the film’s release.
Others who were nominated in this ‘ Best Actress’ poll included Alia Bhatt for Raazi, Kareena Kapoor Khan for Veere Di Wedding, Anushka Sharma for Pari, Rani Mukerji for Hichki and Radhika Apte for Pad Man. No doubt, each of these actresses equally proved their acting prowess with much grace and conviction.
In fact, thank the scripts that they signed or the changing times actresses got a lot more opportunities to show off their skills this year. But if only we could have more winners than one, we would have definitely declared all of them as the best actresses of 2018.
It’s left to see which film Deepika will be singing up next. She did mention about wanting to do a relatively “light” and “fun” film in one of her recent interviews.
