In what could only be described as relief for the Delhi Aam Aadmi Party government, the Delhi High Court has cancelled the disqualification of 20 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lawmakers.
The disqualification had come about as even the Election Commission had said that they were illegally holding to the post.
The Delhi HC also added that the Election Commission must hold the proceedings and consider each case by merit.
Meanwhile, AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that truth has won and that the elected representatives of Delhi were illegally disqualified.
Kejriwal said that Delhi High court has given justice to the people of Delhi.
To counter the Election Commission argument, the AAP party said that they were not allowed to present a defense.
Elected lawmakers already get a salary from the government.
