Despite the apprehensions, life in Uttar Pradesh remained by and large normal even in the face nation-wide bandh call given by anti-reservation forces.
The protests are being held in response to the April 2 nation-wide bandh by Dalit groups who alleged that Supreme Court order diluted the SC/ST act.
The anti-reservation protests are demanding ending of quota system against the caste-based reservations in jobs and education.
Situation in capital Lucknow for example also was normal and shops and trading establishments opened as usual while vehicles plied on the road just as any other day.
Meanwhile, this comes in stark response to the central government advisory of yesterday where in states had been asked to beef up security and prevent any violence during the Bharat Bandh.
In its advisory, the Ministry of Home Affairs had said the districts magistrates and superintendent of police would be held personally responsible for any violence in their area.>
