Dhamtari police comes under attack from liquor peddlers

Dhamtari police came under attack when a team of police personnel visited Bhakara police station limits to stop illicit liquor trade.

Police sources informed that while police dressed in civil uniforms were going about to raid possible gambling dens, they came to know that illicit liquor is being made in nearby Kopedih village.

While the police team even caught one of the liquor peddler, some of the others attacked the police team blatantly leaving Bhakara Station House Officer Paurush Purrey and one Sub Inspector injured.

The injured police personnel were admitted to private hospital. Police meanwhile has registered case against unidentified liquor peddlers and begun inquiry.

It was said that liquor making has long been associated with this village and such is the social stigma that neither the young men nor the young women are easily getting married outside.
