Diarrhea menace spreads amid inmates of Ambikapur jail; admn yet to gauge extent

It is said that now close to 100 of the inmates may be affected

What began with two inmates of Ambikapur central jail losing their life over diarrhea, the menace has now spread massively.

It is said that now close to 100 of the inmates may be affected.

Such is the scale of the menace that the DIG (Jail) Dr KK Gupta has been directed to make an on the spot assessment by visiting the jail.

Jail authorities meanwhile are making all attempts to control the menace.

It need be mentioned that while one of the inmate died on May 16, the second one lost his life just last evening.

Some of the reports even put the figure at more than 100 affected from diarrhea.

Both of the deceased inmates are said to be of tribal community.

It is also to be ascertained whether there has been lapse on the part of jail superintendent and the medical establishment of the district level.

The situation needs to be controlled now as the number suddenly has gone up substantially of the affected people.
