The Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Jind, Mr Amit Khatri has issued directions for the conduct of Bye-elections in a free and fair manner and to keep liquor shops closed on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26, in district Jind.
The day has been declared Dry Day in the district.
All the owners of liquor shops have been directed to keep their shops closed for the prescribed time period, else, strict actions would be taken against them.
Mr Khatri said that January 28 is the day of Poll for the Bye-election in Jind Assembly Constituency.
Therefore, to conduct the elections in a free and fair manner, directions have been issued to keep the shops closed for 48 hours before the election.
The shops would be closed from January 26, 5 pm to January 28, 5 pm.
The counting of votes would be done on January 31 and the result of elections would also be announced the same day. Directions have also been issued to keep liquor shops closed till the counting of votes is completed on January 31.
