With state government not yet in a position to take a decision on the merger of the Shikshakarmis, they have now decided to take the matter before the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It need be mentioned that Modi is slated to visit Chhattisgarh on April 14 and the Shikshakarmis have decided to seek appointment with him on the issue.
It need be mentioned that the state government had recently constituted a committee on the issue of Shikshakarmis and their merger demand but the tenure of the committee has now been extended.
It may also be recalled that Shikshakarmis had resorted to massive agitation between November 20 and December 5 of last year but it had to be abruptly called off.
The Shikshakarmis are hopeful that with the favorable decision in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, their issues in Chhattisgarh would also be similarly sorted out.
It remains to be seen if the Shikshakarmis do indeed get appointment to meet the Prime Minister during his Chhattisgarh visit.
