Parallels have begun to be drawn between the Sabarimala temple of Kerala and the Ayodhya Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh.
While the Communist leader Sitaram Yechury compared Sabarimala unrest with Babri demolition, it is now the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) spokesperson Vinod Bansal who also termed the Sabarimala temple as South India’s Ayodhya.
As per news media outlets, Bansal is known to have said that Kerala’s Sabarimala temple is South’s Ayodhya.
He also went on to attack the ruling Left government in Kerala and the VHP spokesperson said that sanctity, religious beliefs and the serenity of Sabarimala have been attacked and it only exposes the reality of the CPI (M).
Earlier, two women — a journalist and an activist — had to return without visiting the Sabarimala temple.
The Kerala government had decided it wouldn’t take them to the central temple complex, known as the Sannidhanam, at the cost of using force against protesters.
Meanwhile, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party have slammed the Kerala government for allegedly extending support to bring women activists to the Sabarimala temple.>
