Doklam episode: China asserts its sovereignty post Indian ambassador’s interview
Amid Doklam narrative continuing, the neighboring country China has asserted that it will continue to exercise its sovereign rights in the Doklam area.
China said that it will do all it can to safeguard its territorial sovereignty.
The assertion, it is said, comes just days after Gautam Bambawale, the Indian ambassador to China, insisted on maintenance of status quo on the boundary.
He said this in an interview to Global Times, a hawkish Chinese party mouthpiece.
Chinese foreign affairs spokesperson Hu Chunying said on Monday said that Chinese infrastructure activities in Doklam are within the sovereignty of China and are “completely legal, legitimate and indisputable.”
She added that China was ready to hold talks with India to resolve their differences on the contentious USD 50 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) that passes through Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. >
