Outraged over Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal not been extended an invite for the launch of Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line, the party quite literally decided to ‘cash’ the insult.
Two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Magenta line, an e-mail from AAP outreach was sent to all those who have subscribed to AAP’s newsletters.
The e-mail, sent by Krishnaraj, read, “Ever since we found that Delhi CM is not invited for the inauguration of Magenta line Delhi Metro, we got emails, tweets, posts pouring outrage.”
“Yes, I share your sentiments. Yes, my blood also boils. Yes, it’s not the first time and yes, it won’t be the last time. So what can I do, what can you do?” (sic)
Following this emotional message, the outreach team asked the party supporters to donate Rs 100 for a cause- which they failed to explain.
The e-mail further reads, “Simple. Let’s unite to convert every ounce of outrage into a powerful force. A force they cannot ignore. A force created by our collective donations.
Just as millions of tiny drops add up to make the mighty ocean, every drop of donation counts. Make a donation. Add your drop to AAP. Donate Rs 100/- now! I did too (sic).”
The email has a link below that directs the page to the donation link on AAP’s website. The link’s icon is an orange rectangle which reads as, “Make Your Anger Count.”
Asked about the party about seeking donations against ‘insult’ to Arvind Kejriwal, party spokesperson and MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “Whenever there is an attempt to suppress AAP by the central government,
whenever there is a below the belt attack on the elected Government of Delhi, people of India have stood up and supported the party. Donation is just one expression of such support.”>
