Television actor Kavi Kumar Azad, who played the role of Dr. Hathi in popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, breathed his last on Monday (July 9). His funeral was held on Tuesday (July 10) afternoon at Mira Road crematorium.
Others actors from the show, namely Kavi’s onscreen son, Goli (Kush Shah) and Roshan Sodhi (Gurucharan Singh) were also in attendance.
Kavi’s co-actors from the show, Shyam Pathak (Popatlal) and Ghanashyam Nayak (Nattu Kaka), were seen in mourning along with members from the crew.
Asit Modi, who is the producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, was also present at the funeral. On learning about the sudden demise of Kavi, he had told, ” He was an amazing actor and very positive person. He truly loved the show and always came for the shoot even if he was unwell.”
Kavi’s family was seen at the funeral, unable to fathom his sudden demise. They all paid their last respects to the departed soul.
Kavi’s father, who was in Lucknow, rushed to Mumbai as soon as he heard the news of his son’s sudden demise. He was teary-eyed at the funeral.
Kavi’s family and friends were seen in mourning at the farewell and were in an inconsolable state. He was surrounded by his relatives. The body was brought in at noon.
Gurucharan Singh, who plays Roshan Sodhi on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, came to pay his last respects to his dear friend, Kavi Kumar.
Kavi Kumar Azad suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday. The actor was bought dead in an ambulance to Wockhardt Hospital, Ravi Hirwani, centre head of the hospital, had said.
The news of the actor’s death came as a shock to everyone. The actor was working and active in his last days. In the left picture, one can see his on-screen son, Goli and on the right is Kavi’s real father.>
