Context: – Maharaja Agrasen International College, Samta Colony Raipur organizes a
session on “Cyber Crime & Cyber Security” on 16.12.2020. Guest speaker for the
session was Dr. Priya Rao, Assistant Professor, Law Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University.
She explained the students how to not fall prey to modern day cyber crime. She
discussed about legislations for cybercrime (stalking). Sector 354 (D) of Indian Penal
Code, defines if someone terrorize you then there is a provision for 3 years and 5 years of punishment. According to IT Act, 2002, Section 66 and 67 says that if someone post something absence in their social media group, will be punished in accordance with the IT Act.
Section 507, IPC says that whoever commits the offence of criminal intimidation, shall
be punished. Section 66 (E), IT Act 2008, provision are given for online stalking.
Second crime of cyber security is about harassment of E-mail or cyber harassment.
Third crime of cyber bullying. Cyber bullying includes sending unfavorable text and messages through social media. Next crime in about Hacking/Morphing. Hacking is taking away the other person’s identity or identity theft. It also includes cyber deformation or maligning the reputation of other person.
Students asked about their queries from the Guest Speaker. Dr. Rao Responded all of
them and gave solutions to the students.
