DRI apprehends two in Kolkata airport; with foreign currency stashed in rectum

DRI officials were tipped off and they thus intercepted two persons in this connection

In a shocking case, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials apprehended a man and a woman at the Kolkata airport for allegedly trying to smuggle out foreign currency.

What’s all the more shocking though is that the two were concealing the stash in their body cavities.

This was confirmed by the DRI.

The DRI officials were tipped off and they thus intercepted two persons in this connection.

The two were looking to board a flight to Bangkok by an Indigo airliner.

The DRI officers intercepted the duo when they were about to board the flight.

While the DRI could not find a thing when the baggage and personal items were checked, it was upon questioning that the two confessed to hiding it in their body cavities

The two later also ejected it out by themselves.

The currency had been shoved up their rectum and they ejected it out where upon the DRI officials found the stash wrapped in rubber.

They found Euro currency notes valued at Rs. 58 lakh.

Both the passengers have been arrested, the DRI statement later said.
