An alert CISF team at the Delhi airport nabbed a cache of Rs 15 crores worth of drugs from a Zimbabwe woman.
The consignment was headed to Manila in Philippines, CISF suspects.
As per reports, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials received a tip-off from the Narcotics Control Bureau that a foreign woman may be carrying drugs.
On the same evening, the Zimbabwe woman by the name of Betty Rame arrived at the departure terminal of the Indira Gandhi International Airport at around 8:30 to catch a flight to Goa.
It was there that the security officials began having suspicions about her conduct.
While they frisked the woman Betty Rame, they found something suspicious as her baggage was subjected to machine examination.
It also appeared heavy, it was informed by officials.
It was then that the CISF staff then cut open the false cover to find a packet weighing about three kilograms.
It emerged to be the popular party drug methamphetamine or “ice”.
The market value of the seized cache was anywhere close to Rs 15 crores, it was said.
The woman has been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau in Delhi for further questioning.>
