Dussehra 2018: Special Traffic Arrangements & Restrictions Imposed in New Delhi

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory for the traffic restrictions that will be in place today evening on the occasion of Dussehra.

Dusshera celebrations begins today, October 19 security has been tightened across the country. Special traffic arrangements and restrictions have been imposed in the national capital, Delhi.

The traffic restrictions will be in place in Netaji Subhash Marg, Nishad Raj Marg (New Darya Ganj Road), Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg and Turkman Gate depending on the crowd situation after 5 pm, as per the traffic advisory issued by Delhi Traffic Police for Friday.

On the occasion of Dusshera, effigies of Ravan, Kumbhkaran, and Meghnad are burnt as a custom. Owing to that, traffic may be slow in Kotwali, Kamla Market, Ambedkar Nagar, Greater Kailash, South Avenue, Delhi Cantonment, RK Puram, Dwarka, Uttam Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, Kirti Nagar, Hari Nagar, Vikas Puri, Naraina, Sultan Puri, Subhash Place, Keshav Puram, Model Town, Adarsh Nagar, Bhalswa dairy, Jahangir Puri, Shalimar Bagh, Maurya Enclave, Narela, Madhu Vihar, Seelam Puri, New Usman Pur, Anand Vihar, Gandhi Nagar and Farsh Bazar.

The Delhi Traffic Police has also advised commuters going to New Delhi Railway station Old Delhi Railway Station, Nizamuddin Railway Station, and ISBT should leave with sufficient time at hand to accommodate any possible delays in the route.

Joint Commissioner of Police, Alok Kumar, also advised commuters to avail public transport to help reduce traffic congestion and to inform the police in case any unusual or unidentified object or person is noticed in suspicious circumstances.

People are also advised to plan their journeys in advance to avoid inconvenience.
