Enforcement Directorate (ED) seems to be bent upon allowing no respite to IAS officer BL Agrawal, accused of involvement in serious malpractices in office and corruption.
Adjucating Authority had ordered ED to release all the properties of Agrawal attached by ED. ED, on its turn, has decided to approach the Appelate Authority against this order.
According to reports, ED has already filed a suit in the authority in this regard.
The adjudicating Authority had given a big respite to Agrawal when it directed ED to release all his properties seized before.>/p< >p< It was contended that the seized property belonged to Agrawal and his family and Agrawal had made all informations public regarding them. The Income Tax Return, he filed, also declared these properties as belonging to Agrawal and his family members.
Trouble started for Agrawal, when he reportedly tried to bribe officers of Central Bureu of Investigation (CBI) who had been investigating allegations of corruption against him.
CBI had arrested him on this ground. The state government had dismissed him from service aftyer this serious development. He even had to serve a term in jail.>/p<
However, things looked up for him after he came out of the jail. He approached Central Administrative tribunal (CAT) against the decision of the state government dismissing him from service.
CAT nullified the decision, reinstating Agrawal in service. Things again took a different course of action when it attached a number of properties owned by Agrawal abd his family. >
