Eid-ul-Fitr being celebrated with traditional festivity in country

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the country today with joy and festivity and Eid moon was sighted yesterday in the country as the exact date of Eid depends on visual observation of the new moon.

Muslims across the world look forward to the Ramdan-Eid as an occasion of peace and happiness. With special prayers and an extension of forgiveness and generosity, the day brings people together and encourages fellowship. Relatives, friends, and family are welcomed and offered ‘meethi sevai’ and delicious food. Endowments are given to youngsters in the form of Eidi.

The festival marks the culmination of fasting and holy month of Ramdan. The ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramdan, is observed as a fasting period by Muslims who abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset.

President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have greeted the country on Eid.

Mr Modi in his Mann Ki Baat on All India Radio has extending Eid greetings to all said, inspiration should be drawn from pious festivals to spread happiness and to take the nation forward. He also said that India’s diversity is its speciality as well as its strength.

In Uttar Pradesh Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated today with traditional festivity and religious fervour. Muslims dressed in their best, have started thronging at different Eidgah, shrines and mosques to offer special Eid prayers throughout the state marking the end of the holy month of Ramazan.

Eid prayers will be offered at different times at every Mosque and Eidgah. Most of the districts Eidgah and famous mosques are well decorated and members from other communities and political and social activists are also thronged there to great Muslim brothers on the festival.

Muslims have also decorated their houses for the occasion. Elaborate security arrangements are in place across the state to ensure peaceful celebration of the festival.

In Madhya Pradesh, Eid-ul-fitr is being celebrated with religious fervor and enthusiasm. AIR correspondent reports that special Eid prayers are being offered in over two dozen mosques in capital Bhopal.

In Bhopal, the main congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr was held at the Eidgah, where Shahar Qazi led the special Eid prayer. Eid prayers are also being offered at Tajul Masajid, Moti Masjid, Jama Masjid and other main mosques in the city.

Representatives of social and political parties are extending Eid greetings to their Muslim brethren. Eid is also being celebrated with traditional fervour and communal harmony in other parts of the state.

In Tamil Nadu, Ramdan is being celebrated with religious fervor by Muslims. Special prayers to mark the day were held across the state.

Ramdan is celebrated with enthusiasm by Muslims all over Tamil Nadu. In the world famous Nagore Dargah special prayers is being held today. In Tiruchirapalli, Madurai and Tirunelveli, Muslims will throng to Idgah maidans for special prayers. Muslims embraced each other and wished Eid greetings.

This is the culmination of 30 days of fasting by devout Muslims and is considered as one of the five holy deeds. Muslims will be having sumptuous feast today to mark the Ramlan celebration.

Goa Governor Mridula Sinha urged Goans to always maintain national unity and communal harmony in the true secular spirit on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

In her Eid-ul-Fitr message which was released today, the Governor said that she would like the people of Goa to take solemn pledge on the auspicious day to always maintain national unity and communal harmony in the true secular spirit. “May this day deepen the spirit of harmony, peace and solidarity in the society,” the Governor said.

Sinha also said Prophet Mohammad blessed us with eternal message of love, compassion and universal brotherhood.
