Eight killed, three injured in building collapse in Tamil Nadu

In a tragic incident, a portion of a building of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) Porayar branch  collapsed on Friday morning. At least eight crew members have been reported to be dead in the accident that took place in over six-decade old building.

At least three others are said to have sustained injuries.

The crew members of the TNSTC were sleeping in the building, constructed in 1952, when the collapse happened around 3.30 am, killing them on the spot, they said.

 

The three others who sustained injuries were rushed to Karaikal General Hospital. Nagapattinam District Collector Dr C Suresh Kumar also visited the spot.

State Transport Minister MR Vijayabhaskar is rushing to Porayar, officials said.
