Death of an elephant in suspicious circumstances in Chhal forested region of Dharamjaigarh has caused quite a stir in local forest department.

The death was first reported by a farmer and the forest department began an inquiry into the case.

Reports indicate that the elephant was found dead in the farm of one Mahettar Rathiya.

Forest officials said that their preliminary inquiry reveals that elephant may have died after consuming the water at the farm which may have been laden with the urea.

But it is also to be acknowledged that elephant deaths continue to be reported from Dharamjaigarh area.

There have even been cases of elephant and human struggle ongoing for quite some time now.

Local sources claim that there have so far been a dozen deaths of elephants reported so far from this region.

The elephant corpse in this case has been sent in for the post mortem.
