Engineer dies, three injured after an explosion in IISc campus, know more

It is learnt that the explosion took place after a Hydrogen cylinder burst.

In an explosion that took place in a lab of prestigious Indian Institute of Science campus,at least one aerospace engineer has been killed.

In the incident, three others three others have reported to be injured.

The deceased victim has been identified as 32-year-old Manoj K, who was a native of Hyderabad.

The site of the blast was Hypersonic and Shockwave Research (LHSR) in the IISc.

Kartik, Adulya and Naresh Kumar are grievously injured and are currently being treated at the MS Ramaiah Hospitals, police officials said.

The company was exploring new techniques to extract gas using their shockwave technology and had got an agreement signed with the government-run Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) in 2015.
