In the ICC Cricket World Cup, England stormed into the final after beating defending champions Australia by eight wickets in the second semifinal at Birmingham last night.
England chased down the victory target of 224 runs in 32.1 overs riding on opener Jason Roy’s 85 off 65 balls and Joe Root’s 49 not out. Captain Eoin Morgan’s also contributed unbeaten 45.
Earlier, electing to bat first, five-time world champions Australia were bowled out for 223 in 49 overs. Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid took three wickets each for the hosts.
England will now face New Zealand in the final at Lord’s on Sunday.
