Except for Singapore and Hong Kong’s key stocks, all other Asian share markets closed with gains as Singapore’s Straits Times slipped 0.3 per cent and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 0.6 per cent.

Global shares today extended their recovery from four week lows following the overnight gains in the US stocks. Investors focused on prospects for post-pandemic economic growth, rather than fret more over the hawkish stance taken by the U.S. Federal Reserve at a policy meeting last week.

Except for Singapore and Hong Kong’s key stocks, all other Asian share markets closed with gains as Singapore’s Straits Times slipped 0.3 per cent and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 0.6 per cent.

Japan’s Nikkei-225 jumped 3.1 per cent and China’s Shanghai Composite Index ended 0.8 per cent up. South Korea’s KOSPI added 0.7 per cent.

European shares were up marginally in intra day trade. London’s FTSC-100 added 0.3 per cent, France’s CAC rose 0.1 per cent and Germany’s DAX was trading flat.
